I stared at the girl next to me... She was my so called 'best friend'... I stared at her... Long, silky hair... And I wished she was mine... But she didn't notice me like that... I knew it... After class she walked up to me and asked me for the notes she had missed the day before... And I handed them to her... She said 'thanks'... And gave me a kiss on the cheek... I wanted to tell her... I want her to know that I don't want to be 'just friends'... I love her but I'm too shy to tell her... And I don't know why...

IT'S JUNIOR YEAR...
My phone rang... On the other end it was her... She was in tears... Mumbling on and on about how her love had broken her heart... She asked me to come over because she didn't want to be alone... So I did... As I sat next to her on the sofa... I stared at her soft eyes... Wishing she was mine... After 2 hours... A Drew Barrymore movie... And 3 bags of chips... She decided to go to sleep... She looked at me... Said 'thanks' and gave me a kiss on the cheek... I wanted to tell her... I want her to know... That I don't want to be 'just friends'... I love her but I'm too shy to tell her... And I don't know why...

IT'S SENIOR YEAR...
The day before prom... She walked to my locker... 'My date is sick' she said... He's not going to go... Well... I didn't have a date and in 7th grade... We made a promise that if neither of us had dates... We'd go together just as 'best friends'... And so we did...

IT'S PROM NIGHT...
After everything was over with... I was standing at her front door step... I stared at her ... She smiled at me... I wanted her to be mine... But she doesn't think of me like that... And I know it... Then she said 'I had the best time... Thanks!'... And she gave me a kiss on the cheek... I wanted to tell her... I wanted her to know that I don't want to be 'just friends'... I love her but I'm just too shy... And I don't know why...

IT'S GRADUATION DAY...
A day passed... And then a week... And then a month... Before I could blink... It was graduation day... I watched her... Perfect body... Floated like an angel up on stage to get her diploma... I wanted her to be mine...But she doesn't think of me that way... And I know it... Before everyone went home... She came to me in her smock and hat... And cried as I hugged her... Then she lifted her head from my shoulders and said 'you're my best friend'... 'Thanks!'... And gave me a kiss on the cheek... I wanted to tell her.. I wanted her to know that I wanted to be more than 'just friends'... I love her but I'm too shy... And I don't know why...

IT'S A FEW YEARS LATER...
Now I sit in the pews of the church... A church that she is getting married in now... I watched her say 'I do' an drive off to her new life... Married to another man... I wanted her to be mine... But she didn't see me like that... And I knew it... But before she drove away... She came to me and said 'You came!... Thanks!'... And she kissed me on the cheek... I wanted to tell her... I wanted her to know that I didn't want to be 'just friends'... I love her but I'm just too shy... And I don't know why...

YEARS PASSED...
I looked down at the coffin of a girl who used to be my 'best friend'... At the service they read a diary entry she had wrote in her high school years... This is what it said... 'I stare at him... Wishing he was mine... But he doesn't notice me like that... And I know it... I wanted to tell him... I wanted him to know... That I don't want to be 'just friends'... I love him but I'm just too shy... And I don't know why... I wish he would tell me he loved me'... I wish I did too... I thought to myself and I cried...

Haha I think F and B very cute lehh.
(as in not that sense of cute).

Yesterday at Bio Lab, I was sitting with F on my right and B on his right.
So we were talking about some stuff,
then I turned to them and asked (no one in particular):
'Eh, you like _____ izzit?' (I've seriously suspected this)
Both of them were looking at the direction of the whiteboard,
but then suddenly turned to face me.
B was like *smile smile*,
then F said:
'Er yeah.. We two same target.'
AND B was like nodding along.

I think it's funny how they get along and share this kind of thing one.
I mean you would see more of F with that girl compared to B.
Like always see them together one. But hardly for the case of B.
And B doesn't seem to be jealous.
Then like this morning,
I forgot my thermometer, so I ran back to class,
then I saw B holding this apple and a letter to go with it.
F was saying something like:
'Faster faster. I pretend I never see anything lah'.
And it turns out to be for _____.
How cute is that??
They actually encourage each other!
Very rare species those two.
I know some people fight over this kind of thing,
and treat their rival like some kind of what..
Lol but F said they did tense up a bit around this time last year when they just found out.
But now "calm down" le.. Lol good.

Anyhow, F was asking me some advice.
He asked how to make a girl happy.
Lol first it depends on the girl one lah..
Some girls are harder to please than the others.
Then, it depends on your definition of happy!
Haha. And I was telling F,
'Just be sincere'.
Sounds cliché, yeah? But it's true what.
Who doesn't want sincerity?
Then.. I think.. Show that you care?
I mean since you said the two of you are like trying to win her heart,
in the end she will most likely to choose the one who care more for her right?
I think only hor. Lol.
He was like:
'o o dun play play like that rite?'
LOL lah. You play play I smack you.
Girls aren't toys.
And you want tease her don't tease until you hurt her feelings hor!

Anyway, F is very very confident and optimistic! Haha.

I think F is positively lovesick.

Lol. But you everyday with her until 6.30 enough le lah..
Talk more on the journey home loh.
Then at night let B have a chance to talk to her.
HAHAHA.

今天，我原本不知道要放什么歌，但是昨天在听Yes 933电台的时候，我听到了这首歌，所以想在这和你们读者分享。

Memories of A Team '06 - Part 4

... continued from the previous post in this series ...

After the whole band comp episode, I have came to learn several things.

#0. The Band Experience
Really, this is the time when you will really feel like you are indeed part of the band. After going through so much in practice, of course you will get to know the band better. After the gruelling 4 months, the initial hate for band has turned into love.

#1. The Power of Teamwork
This is obvious. For the A-Team to perform flawlessly, the 18 of us has to have perfect teamwork. Anything less than perfect is obvious to the spectators, the judges, our schoolmates. Hence, the power of teamwork is fundamental: No teamwork, nothing good would happen.

#2. The Essence of Discipline
There is no way the 18 of us cannot perform flawlessly, if we do not practise diligently. We have to have the discipline to carry out the practice, if only to better our performance, our display. 'nuff said.

#3. The Friendships Forged
Throughout the gruelling practises, we got to know one another better. These friends I've made during these 4 months, I'll always remember them. Even if my memories fade, somebody jog my memory of them!

These pointers are basically the few (out of so many) pointers I took from band comp. training. There are so many important life lessons to be learnt from band, some of which I also apply in my daily life now. Here's all 18 of us, in order from front to back:

Wow, that's a whole chunk of memories from my brain. (Actually there's more.) Now, to take a well-deserved break ...
