Can I do without 2008?

My initial answer would be yes, I can do without the memories in 2008.
2008 has not been smooth-sailing for me. Sure, some of my highest points of my life were in 2008, but the low points in 2008 were also some of the lowest points in my life, of which overcoming them proved to require strong mental will.

Having a short-sighted mindset, I would probably want to forget 2008, for some of the worst things that happened in my life happened in 2008. However, if I put on a far-sighted mindset, I think that the setbacks that I've faced will make me a stronger person mentally. Also, I will learn from the setbacks I encountered this year and hopefully this will make me a better person in future.

So to answer the question, I guess that I would do well with the memories of 2008, notwithstanding good or bad, for they may/would/should serve me well in the future.

What kind of pet would I be?

This post is pushed forward from 31 December for a special post on that day. Meanwhile, enjoy the last of 9 blog quizzes right after this!

What kind of pet would I be?

You Would Be a Pet Cat

Independent and aloof, you don't like to be dependent on anyone.
And as for other people, you can take them or leave them. You often don't care.
You live your life by your own rules. And you have deep motivations that no one truly understands.

Why you would make a great pet: You're not needy or greedy... unlike other four legged friends.

Why you would make a bad pet: You're not exactly running down to greet people at the door

What you would love about being a cat: Agility and freedom

What you would hate about being a cat: Being treated like a dog by clueless humans

"But" ...

When I see "but"s in a sentence, sometimes it can freak me out (or stun me) , so to speak. For example:

(A) I have all but 4 apples.
(B) I have nothing but 4 apples.
The above two sentences may not freak me out, as they are not complex sentences. But then, this really freaks me:
I have but 4 apples.
Does this imply sentence A or sentence B? How many apples? You get what I mean?

Marina Barrage

Yesterday, my family and I went for an outing ... in Singapore. Haha, with everything so expensive, it's better to be more prudent with money. So, we went to the Marina Barrage, which had opened a month before.

So to get to the Marina Barrage, the most prudent method is to take the free shuttle service from Marina Bay MRT. The wait for the shuttle did not wait long, contrary to my gut feeling. Anyway, while waiting for the shuttle, I took some pictures of Marina Bay.

More construction going on...

Here's something interesting (look at the banner) :

... Ok, on to the Marina Barrage. Firstly we'd noticed the ships on the seas of Singapore:

We went up the sloping roof of the barrage to the rooftop. The path is covered by grass, ie. an Eco-roof, that helps to bring down temperatures inside the building. It's new, and there are even centipedes crawling about!

There's also a solar park on the roof, consisting of solar panels that generate electricity:

At the rooftop, we can see the city skyline:

After that, we went into some exhibition about Sustainable Singapore and the Marina Barrage. I sent myself a postcard, but it looked horrible, so I've better not post it here! ;)

By the time we came out of the exhibit, it was about to rain.

Thankfully we made it back to Marina Bay MRT before it started to pour.

That's it for now!

PS: Can somebody tell me if my homework can wait for another week?

What kind of thinker am I?

What kind of thinker am I?

Your Thinking is Concrete and Sequential

You are precise, orderly, and realistic.
You tend to get to the point and get things done.

Difficult, detailed work is easy for you. You take things step by step.
Time limits aren't a problem for you either. You work well with deadlines.

What does drive you crazy is any sort of task that isn't precisely laid out.
You don't like anything to be ambiguous. You prefer to deal with the facts at hand.
