Stand By Me - Ben E. King

Today's song is Stand By Me, originally sang by Ben E. King. But I came across the following version of the song which I like, which is sang by various folks around the world. So marvel at the following performance!

Lyrics to Stand By Me [Ben E. King]
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, oh I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

So darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand, stand by me
Stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry
No I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me
Stand by me

So darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me

End of the June Holidays

So much I've planned of the June Holidays, so little actually accomplished. Of course that's after taking away anything that has to do with leisure ...

It's the end of the June Holidays already, and what are we facing?

#1. Unpreparedness for Term 3 academically
Totally haven't revised yet, including Biology. Don't know how, but I'm gonna chiong it for one whole day.

#2. Undone homework
Simply put it, hope we have free periods to mass copy homework ...

#3. School that's going to reopen as per normal stubbornly
Damn! Haven't I said that I need more time?

#4. Unwillingness to slow down online activities
Still want to spend time on Facebook, still want to spend time here ... Speaking of which, I have new ideas for this blog ...

#5. Fatigue from stress caused by the above
Just give me a break already!

#6. Death of Michael Jackson
Indisputably the pop icon of the world, the world will remember you for a long time. Rest in peace, Michael Jackson ...

Now for a break before I take on the bitter pill that is A Maths (the Biology Revision is just pure madness) ...

If I Could Turn Back Time - Cher

What if you could relive your past, what if you could listen in on the present, what if you could change the future?
I was inspired to put up today's song, If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher, by the quote above. I couldn't find a nicer version of her song on Youtube so this will have to make do. Enjoy!

PS: Who can figure out where I took the line above from?

Holiday Homework

Over the past week or so, one of the most common opening lines that some of my friends use has been,"Finished your (holiday) homework already?" (I'm guilty of saying that too!)

Is it because we really have nothing better to say, other than commenting on the weather (one of the worst ways to make small talk) ?

Or maybe it is to find out if we can copy from others ... *Sneaky thoughts come in* *Sniggers*

BTW: I haven't touched any of my homework. Yet. And with the crazy HCL holiday homework, it's madness ...

Part of my life - No. 2

Just a brief summary of the day before, for today's post ...

Part 1: Little Guilin
Thinking of going somewhere different, I decided to head for Little Guilin. Over there, I was left speechless, due to the magnificence of the granite cliff faces left behind. Of course, I did not go there purely for a nature walk, I also blasted out some of my innermost thoughts for the cliff to listen ... Thoughts that left me totally shaken ...

Part 2: Cathay Cineleisure Orchard
I went to watch the movie "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past". The reason why I'd watched this movie was because of its trailer: See the trailer here.

Anybody recognise the song towards the end?
An addon: You can't always run away from the past ...

Part 3: Kinokuniya Orchard
With a $40 voucher in hand, I went in. But I have no idea what I want to buy ...
Back to life right now, I still haven't touched my homework ... Grr ... Somebody force me to do so!

Dancing In The Moonlight - Toploader

I'm been feeling so moody nowadays. Guess I shall put up a cheerful and light-hearted song today.

Therefore, today's song shall be Dancing In The Moonlight by Toploader. I don't like the original version (by King Harvest) though, so this cover version shall do. Enjoy!

Volunteering at the library

To chiong my CIP hours (somehow it wasn't enough) , I had to find means of generating CIP hours. And so I turned to the (NLB) libraries, since I had done CIP in the library before.

But this time it was a different experience. Previously I had done the shelfing of books at WRL (Woodlands Regional Library) and I had enjoyed the leisure of roaming around the library to put the returned books in their proper place. This time though, I was more confined. Behind the counter, to be more specific.

I had went to the library at Sembawang since there weren't any free slots at WRL. Being behind the counter, it was a refreshing experience, since this was my first time. Apart from giving out tokens (which is quite complex a matter since there were many different tokens) , I could (occassionally) rest at the counter and see how the librarians (especially the counter staff) go about their work. Of course, when I'm not giving out tokens, I sometimes people-watch; it's quite interesting to see the many different types of people that come to the library.

It's getting a tad bit long. Maybe I shall continue this for my EW ...

Part of my life - No. 1

I got this inspiration to really start writing out whatever that happened in my life here by somebody that is constantly wondering the inner workings of me. Hence, you are reading this first of many more posts to come which chronicles an extract from my life.

A disclaimer: today's content is not that cheerful. In fact, you can call it emo if you like. Skip the whole chunk below if you don't like.

(I guess you readers can guess which day this day was.)
1527: My friends and I board the MRT towards Orchard MRT, after deliberated over the mode of transport to Lido.
1530: The rain got heavier gradually as I relate my (censored) story to Bang Wu.
1541: One SMS. That's it. I can't control the floodgates any longer. I rushed out of the MRT train (at Admiralty MRT).
1546: I boarded the next train after having let out the floodwaters.
1550: Shall I still go for the movie?
1615: I reached Orchard MRT, having emoed the whole ride.
1623: I reached Lido. I feel considerably more cold and sad ...
1630: I went to the toilet at Isetan. Do I really want to go watch the movie? No mood watch for what?
1633: I walked around Isetan.
1645: I decide to watch the movie after all. Goes and buy popcorn ...
1650: An irritating fellow cut my queue ...
1655: Entered Lido 2. Found a seat (thanks to the scholars) .
1700: Started sharing the limited popcorn that I had ... This kind of lightened my mood.
1856: I left Lido as fast as I could ... Just want to get away from here ...
1903: At Orchard MRT. How I wish someone else, any friend, was with me ...
1935: Reached the KFC near my house. Ordered some Snackers and started emoing round 2.
2010: Consolidating thoughts that have mass-surfaced in the past hours.
A quotable quote from me:
The more specific details, the less loopholes ...

Man In The Mirror - Michael Jackson

Just thought of putting up this song for today, since the lyrics for this song is very meaningful.

So if you haven't noticed already, today's song is Man In The Mirror by the (rather infamous) Michael Jackson:

Lyrics to Man In The Mirror [Michael Jackson]
Gotta make a change
For once in my life
Gonna feel real good
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right

As I turned up the collar on
My favorite winter coat
This wind is blowing my mind
I see the kids in the street
Without enough to eat
Who am I to be blind
Pretending not to see their needs

A summer's disregard
A broken bottle top
And a one man's soul
They follow each other
On the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change, yey
Na na na, na na na, na na na na oh ho

I've been a victim of
A selfish kind of love
It's time that I realize
There are some with no home
Not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me pretending that they're not alone

A willow deeply scarred
Somebody's broken heart
And a washed out dream
(Washed out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that change

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror, oh yeah)
I'm asking him to change his ways, yeah
(Better change)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make the change
You gotta get it right, while you got the time
'Cause when you close your heart
(You can't close your, your mind)
Then you close your mind

(That man, that man, that man)
(That man, that man, that man)
(With the man in the mirror, oh yeah)
(That man you know, that man you know)
(That man you know, that man you know)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Better change)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself then make that change

(Na na na, na na na, na na na na)
Ooh
Oh yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
(Na na na, na na na, na na na na)

Oh no
Oh no, I'm gonna make a change
It's gonna feel real good
Sure mon
(Change)
Just lift yourself
You know, you got to stop it yourself
(Yeah)
Oh
Make that change
(I gotta make that change today, oh)
(Man in the mirror)
You got to, you got to not let yourself, brother oh
Yeah
You know that
(Make that change)
(I gotta make that make me then make)
You got, you got to move
Sure mon, sure mon
You got to
(Stand up, stand up, stand up)
Make that change
Stand up and lift yourself, now
(Man in the mirror)
Make that change
(Gonna make that change, sure mon)
(Man in the mirror)
You know it, you know it, you know it, you know
(Change)
Make that change

Intensive Study Program

It's been a long time since I last posted anything from my current life, so I am going to rant about the ISP (Intensive Study Program, not Internet Service Provider!) .

Basically the ISP is littered with lots of mock exams. Even the mock exams are "mock" as well, so I might as well call them extended timed practice. Yah, so I prepared nothing at all for the extended timed practice, because of my SMO commitments. Seriously I think it's real lucky if I can get into the second round - my aim. And I'm talking about SMO Senior!

Even though I prepared like nothing for the extended timed practice, I still can handle the "mock" papers. Either it was too easy, or I just anyhow do. Then for Physics and Chemistry, I had lots of time remaining. For Chem it was like, what, a good 40 mins remaining? So I imagined I was on the Airbus A380 with the full-reclining seats ...

Oh yah, and I enjoy the air-con and the fact that only the Sec 4s are in school for "serious business". But the long queue at the canteen during recess ... haiz ...
