Graduation Day

For a moment, I just didn't know how best to blog about today. Talk about ambivalent feelings. Maybe let's talk about the good and the bad:

The Good
#1. Somebody's words really made my day: (Thank you! I'll forever remember this!)
"因为有了我们,才会有“高发”"

#2. I got like a a good number [haha so not specific ;)] of photographs. Just going to post a selection below:

The Bad
#1. I have several reservations as to who should be getting some award, but that doesn't compare to the one below:

#2. What gives you the damned (I don't care about censorship: as per Fahrenheit 451) right to use my trophy?!? You want to pose with a trophy, well and good, but why my trophy? Who are you to pose with my trophy? And what glory in the first place if the trophy isn't yours?

The offending picture below: [The trophy in question is the one on the left]

And the thing about today that I feel the most ambivalent about is the buffet food (Totally random!). Although the buffet food was not bad (eg. the fried bee hoon) the buffet food can be improved (eg. noodles got no taste).

The Random
The hangers that I hung my uniform on happen to be in the school's colours (red and green). Take a look at the hangers below:

I do feel a bit reluctant about graduating. After spending 4 years with my classmates, really the bonds formed are really existent (even if they appear to be non-existent -- Trust me!). And as for the scholars, my opinion of them has changed (or did an about-turn) in the last two years. I had (a tremendous amount of) fun with them, joked about a lot, and somehow made me feel much more relaxed and less stressed (Where's the O levels?). Aerospace engineering as a subject for the O levels?

After going through so many experiences together (g. Cheering Comp), really the scholars are good friends. And for Robert and Iddo, remember this: the trophy we earned after putting in all our efforts:

An analogy for today:
Going to school is something like going overseas and having a homestay with the locals for quite a while (a week, even month?), and then you leave your hosts. That kind of reluctance can make you feel sad for a while, but you learn to cherish the good memories.

On a positive note: If I can work hard to get autographs for my yearbook, I can work even harder to get my A1s!

Note #2: Over the course of the past few weeks I have prepared several notes on various subjects, including Lit (F451 + Unseen) and portions of Geography. If you want them come find me and we can work out the details.

With that, I'll be back one month later, 13 November 2009. Prepare to see this place changed ...

Pairs of numbers - Part 3

Today's pair of numbers holds a very important position in me, and that is (10,46). Besides that being my unit number and tan x (very random???) , I'm not revealing more about this pair of numbers. The smart ones can go guess. The rest can just skip this part. And that's it!

So Sick - Ne-Yo

Today marks the 28th Music Monday post. Nice! But due to the imminent O levels, this will be the last Music Monday post for the time being, until the end of the O levels.

So meanwhile, enjoy today's song: So Sick, by Ne-Yo. Lyrics are in the video!

Is it that big a deal?

So you think being insulted is no big deal?
What say I insult you with all sorts of hurtful remarks that I can possibly muster?
So you think someone pulling you up by your collar is no big deal?
What say I throw in a punch or two too?
So you think having someone point a loaded gun at you is no big deal?
What say I pull the trigger?

Do I need to say further?

Pairs of numbers - Part 2

If the previous part is sin x, this is cos x.
Today, the pair of numbers are (03,28). Yep, besides being my index number (0328) for the O levels, they also fit the (difference, product) pair of numbers. Interesting right?

My stupid phone

I transferred the contents on my measly 1GB memory card to my new 4GB memory card. To my horror, the songs disappeared off the "most played songs" playlist that the phone software maintains. That means that I have to replay my favourite songs (a good number of times) to get those songs back to the playlist. Aargh!

New Divide - Linkin Park

Just some food for thought from the chorus of today's song:

So give me reason to prove me wrong - Prove what wrong?
To wash this memory clean - Memory of what?
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason to fill this hole - What hole? Caused by what?
Connect the space between - between what (or who)?
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies across this new divide
What is this truth? Is this divide really "new"?
Today's song is New Divide by Linkin Park. Enjoy the nice MV below!

Lyrics to New Divide [Linkin Park]
I remembered black skies, the lightning all around me
I remembered each flash as time began to blur
Like a startling sign that fate had finally found me
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve

So give me reason to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason to fill this hole, connect the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies across this new divide

There was nothing in sight but memories left abandoned
There was nowhere to hide, the ashes fell like snow
And the ground caved in between where we were standing
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve

So give me reason to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes across this new divide

In every loss, in every lie, in every truth that you'd deny
And each regret and each goodbye was a mistake too great to hide
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve

So give me reason to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason to fill this hole, connect the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies across this new divide
Across this new divide, across this new divide

Pairs of numbers - Part 1

I like numbers. Not all numbers though. I like numbers that are "special"; since I'm a number fanatic, it could mean numbers like 28 (my index number and also a perfect number -- The number I like the most!) or 11 (don't you just admire the two parallel lines!). For the three weeks including this one, I am going to post up special groups of numbers.

Today, it's (Sum,Product) . For example, the time that I was born is XXYY hrs. (It's not too convenient to reveal what XXYY exactly is.) XX represent sum of two numbers, and YY represents the product of the same two numbers! Interesting right?

More such numbers coming up in the next few weeks!

Logarithms

Forget it. Some people just don't get it.

Pictures Of You - The Last Goodnight

A bit of tenses before I go on, since there will be a test on tenses this week.

"What we could have been" is definitely not the same as "What we could be", since
"What we could have been" implies "very possible, but in the end it didn't turn out in the way I would have liked", whereas
"What we could be" is more positive and implies "very possible, and let's work hard together for the desired ending".
Today's song is Pictures Of You, by The Last Goodnight. Note the above. For me, I feel strongly that this is not a "let's work hard for our relationship" song; it's the reverse (well, kind of).

Lyrics to Pictures Of You [The Last Goodnight]
This is the clock up on the wall
This is the story of us all
This is the first sound
Of a new born child before he starts to crawl

This is the war that's never won
This is the soldier and his gun
This is the mother waiting by the phone praying for her son

Pictures of you, pictures of me
Hung up on your wall for the world to see
Pictures of you, pictures of me
Remind us all of what we used to be

There is a drug that cures it all
Blocked by the governmental wall
We are the scientists inside the lab
Just waiting for the call

This earthquake weather has got me shaking
Inside I'm high up and dry

Pictures of you, pictures of me
Hung up on your wall for the world to see
Pictures of you, pictures of me
Remind us all of what we used to be

Confess to me every secret moment
Every stolen promise you believe
Confess to me, all that lies between us
All that lies between you and me

We are the boxers in the ring
We are the bells that never sing
There is a title we can't win
No matter how hard we must swing

Pictures of you, pictures of me
Hung up on your wall for the world to see
Pictures of you, pictures of me
Remind us all of what we could have been

Pictures of you, pictures of me
Hung up on your wall for the world to see
Pictures of you, pictures of me
Remind us all of what we could have been
What could have been, we could have been

Pictures of you, pictures of me
Remind us all of what we could have been
What could have been
