It's almost two months since I last updated my blog with stuff from my life! Looks like it's time to update this blog with new stuff, so here's some of the key events that have occurred during the past two months.
1. Alpha Bravo Camp
This camp was really a
tekkan leadership camp for all the class leaders, CCA heads and vice-heads, as well as councillors. Highlights of the camp include walking around Jurong and Clementi during the day, as well as walking from AJ to Marina Barrage at night! Of course the campers learnt a whole lot of stuff, like facilitation, goal-setting, SL matters, RAMS, conflict management, and the list goes on ... It's like how they use this camp to transfer all that the leaders need to know for leading their people :)
2. Singapore Rotary Club Installation 2010
This was held some time in the last week of June, before the common tests. I decided to come help out despite that night having been marked for GP revision. So I had a great night, helping usher the guests into the ballroom, and also taking photos with the President.
Yes, the President!!! Here's a photo that I took with the President of Singapore. Although I don't have the soft copy with me, this version that I photographed off the screen will suffice. It's not everyday that you get to be with the President; how cool is that?
3. Mid-Year Common Tests
So I studied during the second half of the June holidays for this. I was
Astounded for Geography,
Amazed for Physics and Chemistry, Mathematics was
Awesome, but GP was
Saddening. :(
4. Student Leader Handover Ceremony
This was held last week, during 22 July. See me at the bottom-left of the photo below?
It took two rehearsals, 2 "wasted" half days to prepare for this. The councillors and CCA leaders took up the bulk of the time, whereas the class leaders' section of the ceremony seemed to be added in as an afterthought: very short, very short :( Though we still got our 10 seconds of fame, as seen above :)
5. BPGHS's 50th Anniversary Dinner
This happened last Friday (23 July). I came at about 6 pm; by then the event had started, with a mass display performance like the National Day Parade display :D Then after the nice displays, it was time to go for dinner. But of course, the ants were earlier than us, and they happily transported the sugar/salt on the peanuts served back home, so no one dared to eat the peanuts.
Then dinner started, and we started taking photos. One by one teachers who taught us came over to our table (our table is with most of the people from the 2009 batch), and we took photos with them. I also did some exploring, and took photos with Mr Gui (!) and Mr Anthony (who was my coach 4 years back, during Band Comp 2006).
I also got the chance to take more photos with other friends and my band juniors.
The most memorable part of the night was the band's performance during the dinner. Before it started, band members past and present gathered at the front of the stage, whipping our their handphones to record their performance (me included!). Then they played, and they played many of the songs that I have played before; in fact it was some of the last songs that I have played during my sec 4 days.
6. AJ Interact Club's Installation
Our installation, though it was carried out smoothly, was not without hiccups. A false start, ushers waiting aimlessly for ACJC's representatives that never materialised, were some problems. Nevertheless things got done, which is a relief. Finally we can return to our organisations every Wednesday!
That's all for now; hopefully I can update some more during the National Day holiday! :D
