Church and Fahrenheit 451 (and more ...)

I don't think that I'd gotten over exam mode completely. Yesterday was my first time to a church, so it was an eye-opener for me. And it was interesting too. For me, it felt as though the service was a cross between a rock concert (Really! There was even a live band!) and a preaching session (This feels like a inspirational session if the references to the Bible were stripped out!). Just something from the preaching which I felt was useful:

The 10,000 hour rule
Apparently, researchers have discovered that to really be a genius at something, you have to have put in 10,000 hours of hard work into it. There were living proof like Bill Gates, and Mozart and the Beatles are also some of the others who had put in the (more than) 10,000 hours to be really successful.

So that means I have to study 8 hours for 365 days a year for 3.5 years (!!!) to really be a genius. Hmm ...

Anyway, I was thinking about F451 that night too. During the service technology seemed to be in full force. Huge (LED) screens, TV cameras, those reminded me of the times of the recording of NSC '08. The live band provided the melody for the Christians (that would be about 99.5% of everyone there) to sing along, and I was amazed!

There was a strange parallel between yesterday and Prom night , though I would not elaborate here. If anything refer to my post on Prom night here.
