Scholarships, scholarships, scholarships

So as I have written on this blog, I do have a place in SUTD. What I can add is that I also have a SUTD scholarship (which has been recently confirmed). That's great, and I value the prestige of being a SUTD scholar. However, I was less than satisfied with the quantum of the scholarship. While it covers the tuition fees, absolutely nothing else was covered. No monthly/yearly allowance, no free hostel stay, laptop allowance, etc. This means that I cannot enjoy as much financial freedom as I could in my undergrad years. :(

The possible lack of financial freedom, coupled with the desire to "guarantee" myself of a job after I graduate, meant that I had to look for other scholarship providers. With my interest in transportation planning, it was kind of obvious which scholarship I would want to apply for: the LTA Undergraduate Scholarship.

So I completed and submitted the application about two weeks ago. Then yesterday evening, I received this email:

Ok, just kidding - there's a strong hint that I can try again in future in the email. Phew!

But since I will need to recourse BMT in future, I'm hoping that I have time for a scholarship interview, this time next year (ie. I'm hoping that I'm allowed time off for scholarship interviews). Though I shouldn't sweat over that - that happens only next year!
