So yesterday night was Prom night. And since I had no idea how the night would go, I went there with the only hope that I don't screw things up. But problems came up anyway. Firstly, thanks to my trousers, I was delayed at home by one good hour. Then when I got to a meeting point where I could hitch a ride to Raffles Town Club (RTC) I was informed that that would be delayed too. So in the end, I endured a ride on 960 to RTC instead. And if that weren't bad enough, I had problems tying my tie. So the first thing after I reached RTC was to ask for directions to the toilet.
And only when I entered the toilet did I finally saw someone I knew. And I got help for my tie as well. And the positive feelings slowly rose through the evening ...
Things brightened up (literally) when the ballroom was opened. And then came some pointless games and then the food. Somehow I managed to go for 4 rounds of food before time ran out. Then came more games: Don't forget the lyrics! and Music TV. My intuition was right when I predicted Mr Osgodby to go up and sing (offhand I don't remember the song title, though it's a really old song). As for Music TV, it is really just Love TV in disguise. getting the "couples" (maybe the quotation marks aren't needed) to act out scenes that prompted "oohs" and plenty of laughter (thrusting the groin forward, anyone?).
When the lights were dimmed later on, the amount of positive feelings in me started to decrease. I was rather disappointed with the results and when (most of) the lights in the ballroom were switched off for people to start dancing, I stayed around for awhile before leaving RTC in a gloomly mood that was not unlike the dark skies.
Watching the bus speed along the expressway did help to lift my spirits for a while (I was standing in front of the bus, so that was fun) .
That's a lot of text above right? Unfortunately I took barely any photos at all :(
Money buys stuff, but not love and happiness.
And the reason why I put in the quote above had to do with the fact that I felt better during Graduation Day than during Prom Night. I paid nothing for the former, yet I was in better spirits during the former than the latter. (I took and posed for more photos in the former too. Yesterday I took like what, 3 photos only???) Yesterday night I was practically begging for a bus, any bus, to bring me out of RTC ...
Oh well, today is a new day and I guess I should hit the "Refresh" button in my mind ...
